The Not Old Better Show, Author Interview Series

Welcome to The Not Old Better Show on radio and podcast.  I’m Paul Vogelzang, and today’s show is brought to you by POM Wonderful and Harry’s Shaving.

Thank you so much for listening. As I say, we’ve got a great guest today, who, after reading his new book ‘Memoirs From An Ordinary Guy .’ I’ve been looking forward to talking to him for a while and whom I’ll introduce in just a moment…But, quickly, if you missed any episodes, last week was our 688th episode, when I spoke with Smithsonian Associate Glory Liu, about her new book, ‘Adam Smith’s America.’  Two weeks ago, I spoke with Smithsonian Associate Mary Beth Albright about her new book, ‘Eat & Flourish: How Food Supports Emotional Well-Being.’   Wonderful subjects for our Not Old Better Show audience…If you missed those shows, along with any others, you can go back and check them out with my entire back catalog of shows, all free for you, there on our website, NotOld-Better.com

Memoirs of an Ordinary Guy: The Everyday Experiences that Changed My Life is a new book by first-time author and our guest today, Daniel Stuart Olmes.  I know him as Danny, know him well, as a matter of fact.  I’ll tell you all right up front that Danny is a good friend.  You all know from listening to the show that I read a lot, interview a lot of authors from my reading, and love books.  And, there are a lot of books written each year, so I’m picky about what I read, only interviewing authors of those books.  Danny’s book is special.  You’ll hear Danny read a passage from the book in just a moment, but briefly, Danny is a husband, father of twins, entrepreneur, and aerospace and defense executive.  Danny is a busy guy.  We’ll talk about that, plus what’s changed since writing his first book, how to get started and keep going when writing, good old-fashioned perseverance, and what it means to be an observer and an ordinary guy.

That, of course, is our guest today, first-time author Danny Olmes, reading from his new book, Memoirs of an Ordinary Guy: The Everyday Experiences that Changed My Life .  Please join me in welcoming to The Not Old Better Show on radio and podcast Danny Olmes.

My thanks to POM Wonderful and Harry’s Shaving for generously sponsoring today’s show.  My thanks to our guest today, Danny Olmes, the author of the new book, available for pre-order: Memoirs of an Ordinary Guy: The Everyday Experiences that Changed My Life.  Thanks, Danny, for reading today.  My thanks to the Smithsonian team for all they do to support the show.  My thanks to you, my wonderful Not Old Better Show audience on radio and podcast…please be well and be safe, which I’m mentioning in every show because I want to bring attention to the issue of assault rifles, which aren’t safe, in anyone’s hands but the military and law enforcement.  Assault rifles are killing our children and grandchildren in the very places they learn: schools!  Please, let’s work together to eliminate assault rifles, and let’s do better.  Let’s talk about Better…the Not Old Better Show on radio and podcast.
