The Not Old Better Show – Interview Series
Welcome to The Not Old Better Show with guest, film producer, playwright, academic, Marc Lapadula. Today’s show is brought to you by Omaha Steak and Ritual.com
It’s that time of year again: You’re gathering with friends and family. Wrapping presents. And spiking the eggnog with your favorite yuletide libation. That leaves just one thing: the annual holiday movie marathon. Not sure where to start? How about with this list of fascinating facts about your favorite holiday movies?
From the many incarnations of the Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol, to Frank Capra’s perennially televised It’s a Wonderful Life, these stories remind us (or at least try to) that there is much more to Christmas than a spirit of giving. Yes, it’s sort of an ironic message, as the Christmas-themed films rolled out each year by the major studios the day after Thanksgiving have the sole mission of selling as many tickets at the box office as they can!
Our guest today, a favorite of the show is Marc Lapadula. Marc Lapadula will be sharing his thought-provoking presentation at several classic and contemporary examples of how the Christmas Holiday has been portrayed in movies throughout the decades. We’ll talk about films like It’s a Wonderful Life, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, A CHRISTMAS CAROL, and our family favorite ‘Elf,’ with Will Farrell. Get ready Cotton-Headed Ninny Muggins for a fun show all about Christmas movies!
My thanks to Marc Lapadula for his time and energy today, sharing all his Christmas movies.
