As part of our Smithsonian Associates, author interview series, our guest today on The Not Old Better Show is author Garrett Peck. Garrett Peck has written a new book about The League of Nations, entitled, The Great War in America: World War I and Its Aftermath, and will be appearing at the Smithsonian Associates for his presentation, Monday Sept. 23, 2019, at the Ripley Center in Washington DC.
Our guest today, Historian and author Garrett Peck tells how the League of Nations came to be, its successes and failures over its 26 years of existence, and its demise and resurrection through the United Nations after World War II. He chronicles the forces that led to the creation of the league and the partisan process within the United States that rejected the peace treaty that ended WW1, returned the country to isolationism, and left a scar on all who suffered, all who died, and all for so little achievement.
